StudyArc AI (“StudyArc,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Chrome extension designed to help users study and understand material from webpages and text they provide. This Privacy Policy explains what information StudyArc processes, why it is used, how it is stored, and the services involved in providing the extension.
1. Information StudyArc processes
Depending on the features you choose to use, StudyArc may process:
- Account information: such as your email address, Google account identifier, and account/session identifiers used for sign-in.
- Website content you intentionally use with StudyArc: such as webpage text, selected text, questions, answer choices, page titles, URLs, and relevant page context.
- Optional screenshots: when you use a feature that captures the visible page or otherwise explicitly enables screenshot-based analysis.
- Study inputs and outputs: including prompts, optional instructions, answers, flashcards, quizzes, summaries, study guides, explanations, practice problems, notes, checked work, and tutor responses.
- Subscription information: such as subscription status, Stripe customer/subscription identifiers, and plan entitlement information.
- Usage information: such as the number of StudyArc AI requests used during the current daily usage period.
2. How webpage information is used
StudyArc accesses webpage content only to provide its user-facing study features. For example, when you choose Current Page, Selection, Answer Question, Explain This, or another page-based action, StudyArc may extract relevant content from the page you are actively using.
StudyArc is not designed to continuously monitor your browsing activity or build an advertising profile based on the websites you visit.
3. AI processing
Some AI processing may occur on your device when supported by Chrome. When on-device processing is unavailable or a feature requires cloud processing, the relevant text, question, selected content, optional instructions, and/or optional screenshot may be transmitted to StudyArc's cloud infrastructure for the purpose of generating the requested study output.
Cloud-based AI requests are processed through infrastructure operated using Cloudflare services. Information sent for AI processing is used to provide the feature requested by the user and is not sold for advertising purposes.
4. Saved study library
StudyArc allows users to save generated study materials to their account. StudyArc is designed so supported saved study content is encrypted on the user's device before being stored remotely. This may include saved questions, answers, flashcard sets, quiz sets, summaries, study guides, explanations, practice sets, checked work, notes, and related study materials.
Operational account information—such as user identifiers, subscription status, usage counters, timestamps, and encrypted record identifiers—may remain server-readable because it is necessary to provide accounts, synchronization, and subscription entitlements.
5. Local History
StudyArc may store recent generated study activity locally in Chrome so you can reopen a result or save it later. Local History may contain the source material used for a generation, the generated output, page title/URL, and optional screenshot information associated with that item. History is stored on the Chrome installation and is separated by signed-in StudyArc account.
6. Authentication
StudyArc uses Google sign-in through Supabase authentication. Google and Supabase may process information necessary to authenticate your account, such as your email address, account identifier, OAuth tokens, and session information. StudyArc does not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, Google Calendar, or other unrelated Google account data through this sign-in flow.
7. Payments and subscriptions
Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe. StudyArc does not receive or store your full payment card number. Stripe processes payment credentials and transaction information according to Stripe's own privacy and security practices. StudyArc may store Stripe customer/subscription identifiers, subscription status, and related entitlement information needed to provide paid features.
8. Service providers
StudyArc relies on service providers that are necessary to operate the extension, including:
- Supabase for authentication, account data, and encrypted study-library storage.
- Cloudflare for backend infrastructure and cloud AI processing/fallback services.
- Stripe for subscription billing and payment processing.
- Google when you choose Google sign-in.
Data is shared with these providers only as needed to provide StudyArc's user-facing features, authentication, storage, AI processing, security, and subscription services.
9. Sale of data and advertising
StudyArc does not sell user data. StudyArc does not use webpage content, saved study materials, account information, or AI inputs/outputs for personalized advertising or to determine creditworthiness or eligibility for lending.
10. Data retention and deletion
Saved account data is retained while needed to provide StudyArc's services or until it is deleted by the user or the associated account is removed, subject to limited records that may need to be retained for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or payment/accounting obligations. Locally stored History can be removed by clearing StudyArc data or uninstalling the extension.
11. Security
StudyArc uses reasonable technical safeguards designed to protect user information. Supported saved study content is designed to be encrypted before remote storage. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and users should avoid submitting information they do not want processed by the selected StudyArc feature.
12. Children's privacy
StudyArc is a general educational productivity tool and is not specifically directed to children under 13. Users and guardians are responsible for using StudyArc in accordance with applicable age requirements, school policies, and local law.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as StudyArc changes. When we make material changes, the effective date shown at the top of this page will be updated.
14. Chrome Web Store and Google API Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
